A successful garden starts with hardy, acclimated plants. In the Mid-Columbia, winds can be harsh and the weather is prone to rapid change. Summer, while usually warm and pleasant, can be hot and dry. Winter may produce periods of heavy snow and ice or open, frozen ground. Plants actually raised in this climate will be most adaptable and successful. That is why we believe in growing our own plants at Mount Hood Gardens.

Our growing facility is located at the base of magnificent Mt. Hood, on the south side of Hood River. We grow perennials, hardy bulbs, many shrubs and some trees. We test numerous plants in our own stock beds, which also serve as propagation stock for our growing needs. If we do purchase plants from other growers outside of our locale, we first acclimate the plants here at our nursery before installing them in your garden.

The nursery is not open to the public as we exclusively produce plants for our clients’ gardens. However, you are welcome to make an appointment to view the nursery and our beautiful, abundant stock beds.
